The repair work begineth

Today the physio started to try to get my back working full tilt again.

And it seems tilt is one of the things not quite right. My first introduction to Pilates definitely showed that I had no idea what I was doing. Tilting pelvis in any direction requested seemed to result in me managing to do something else.

There was plenty of other stretching exercises and a nice classroom discussion which basically underlined that everything we do seems to do horrors to the back. I’d say it was safer to not get out of bed but that in turn depended on how one chose to lie in bed and whether or not the mattress was right or not.

Still on the plus point I managed a gentle 10k run in the countryside around the centre I’m staying at for the time being. It wasn’t fast and it certainly wasn’t me at anywhere close to being any good, but it was the first outdoor run since Wilmslow.

There’s still a lot to do with my back and I’m certainly not in the market for running any great distance in the short term. I probably won’t be tackling that same circuit for another week or so although I’d like to do it again just to see some improvement on the speed and on the endurance, which was somewhat lacking.

I’m hopeful that things are moving in the right direction and that I’ll be planning competitive races again soon.
